Wanita MCA welcomes move to incorporate provisions on sexual harassment into labour law
Wanita MCA Women and Children Aid Bureau Chief Chew Lee Giok says the MCA women’s wing welcomes the move by the Ministry of Human Resource to amend the Employment Act 1955 to include provisions prohibiting sexual harassment in the workplace scheduled to be tabled in Parliament March next year. She says such a move will increase public awareness on the prevention of sexual harassment therefore protect rights and interests of women. She hopes that the Ministry of Human Resource could introduce the above provision as amendment to the Act as soon as possible for the benefit of women. She further hopes that the ministry could intensify monitoring efforts on the implementation of amendments to the Act to eliminate any gray areas and to ensure fair and just implementation.
