把握形势变化，活络党际交往

马华妇女组领袖一行34人于2009年7月新加坡的考察访问，获得了新加坡人民行动党妇女团主席、总理公署部长及财政部兼交通部第二部长陈惠华，众女议员及妇女组执行委员会成员的热烈接待，双方针对如何吸引更多有才能的妇女加入及女性如何达到家庭生活和工作均衡交流看法。

Keeping track of global developments through inter-party exchange

An entourage of 34 Wanita MCA leaders embarked on a study tour in Singapore early July 2009. The delegation was warmly received by Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Chairwoman of the Women’s Wing of the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP), and Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, female Members of Parliament, and the Executive Committee of PAP Women’s Wing. Both groups exchanged notes and ideas on how to recruit more talented women to join their respective women’s wings while keeping a family work life balance.

唇齿相依，关系密切

马华妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬，署理主席拿督尤绰韬，副主席曾亚英和妇女组国际事务局主任拿督林美娇在新加坡国家发展部兼教育部政务部长傅海燕的陪同下拜会了新加坡总理李显龙，针对两国政坛时事与李显龙进行了一小时的愉快交流。

在交流中，李显龙分享了其平衡照顾各族需要的治国理念，马华妇女组则对李显龙以实际行动提拔妇女的决心表达敬佩。

新加坡从2001年的4名女性国会议员，增加到现在的17名，占国会议员总数的20％。同时，新加坡在2009年出现首位女部长，在鼓励更多女性参政上，产生了激励鼓舞的效果。

Building Close Rapport

Accompanied by Grace Fu Hai Yien ,the Minister of State for National Development of Singapore, Wanita MCA National Chairman YB Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Deputy Chairman Datuk Yu Chok Tow, Vice Chairman YB Tan Ah Eng, and Dato’ Lim Bee Kau called on Singapore Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong. Our leaders had a fruitful one-hour exchange on common policial issues facing both countries.

During the meeting, Lee Hsien Loong shared on his government’s concept of ensuring equal treatment for all ethnic communities while the Wanita MCA delegation expressed its respect and admiration towards the Singapore premier for empowering women folks with practical actions.

Female members of parliament in Singapore has increased from 4 in 2001 to 17 now, or constituting 20% of the total number of members of parliament. The increasing numbers of elected female representatives coupled with the appointment of the first female cabinet minister in Singapore in 2009 give women much heartening encouragement to participate in politics.

妇女与经济

金融风暴席卷全球，新加坡也不能悻免于人民失业加剧的问题，而且首当其冲的多为女性员工。新加坡在这方面作出迅速有效的举措协助失业人士进修增值和寻找工作。全国职工总会为马华妇女组介绍多项保障就业计划，标新局则介绍对企业界所提供的各种支援，协助企业渡过金融风暴。考察团也拜访新加坡标准、生产力与创新局(Spring)及新加坡全国职工总会（NTUC），针对妇女经济分享看法，让正筹设《妇女企业发展中心》的妇女同志们获益匪浅！

Women and Economy

Singapore was not spared of unemployment caused by the global economic crisis. Many who lost their jobs were women. In this respect, the republic island took swift and effective measures to enhance the value of the unemployed and facilitate job search for them. The delegation also visited SPRING and the Singapore National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). The NTUC briefed the Wanita MCA delegation on various job security plans while SPRING Singapore highlighted support provided to assist enterprises and companies to tide over the current financial crisis. The visit offered invaluable input for Wanita MCA members in their efforts to set up the Women Entrepreneur Development Centre.

The group was also warmly received by Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of Community Development, Youth and Sports. There was a cordial and detailed exchange on common interests such as women and family development, and racial and social harmony.

友谊源远流长，历久弥坚

新加坡的经验在多方面启发了我们，此次考察不仅增进了马新两国政党间的相互了解，同时也增进了政党之间的友好交往与合作，这是传统马新友谊源远流长的又一明证。

Friendship that withstands

the test of time

The visit to Singapore has greatly inspired Wanita MCA in various areas. It has increased mutual understanding between the governments and political parties of the two countries. Such friendly exchanges evidently demonstrate the continuing friendship and camaraderie between the two countries.
